Analyze Shipment Performance With Shipment Analytics

AfterShip’s Shipment Analytics report includes comprehensive data and insights related to the tracking and delivery performance of your shipments. You can also view the volume of shipments being tracked within a specified period, narrowed down by delivery status and destination.

Navigate to Analytics in your AfterShip Tracking admin and select Shipments.
You'll see data based on the default settings, so set the filters according to your preference to see the desired data.
Let’s break down the Shipment Analytics dashboard of AfterShip Tracking.
Created at: The period when shipments were created in your AfterShip Tracking account. It will be default selected. You can switch to Ordered at and Picked up at.
Ordered at: The period when orders related to your shipments were placed.
Picked up at: The period when shipments got picked up by carrier(s).
Date range: Define the timespan for which you check the on-time shipment data. You can choose between Today, Yesterday, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 60 days, Last 90 days, Last 120 days, Last month, Last quarter, or Last year. The Last 30 days will be selected by default.
The date range will auto-adjust based on the range you select.
Comparison date range: If you wish to compare the data between two specific periods, you can choose between the Previous period and Previous year to establish that.
For example, if you have selected Last 30 days (2024-05-27 to 2024-06-25) of data to be displayed and Previous period to compare that data with, the comparison data would automatically be 30 days before the last 30 days (2024-04-27 to 2024-05-26)
Location: Select origin (from where the shipments are dispatched) and destination (where shipments are meant to be delivered) countries for more precise results.
Carrier/Service: Select the carriers and services for which you would like to view the shipment volume data.
6 More filters: Narrow down your shipment data for more defined evaluation and interpretation with additional filters like Status, Shopify tags, Shipping method, and Store.
Click More filters > + Add filter > Select filter > Select values > Select the checkbox of desired value(s)
Filtering shipments by tags allows you to easily analyze shipments with specific tags frequently used in Shopify. Similarly, filtering shipments by status allows you to view volume changes in specific statuses.
Custom fields: Use custom fields to add depth to your shipment data with specialized data attributes to capture unique aspects of data that are not covered by standard data fields.
Click Custom fields { / } > + Add custom field > Select custom field > Select logic and value(s)

Right after the filters, you will see a status bar that highlights the key metrics to give you an overview of your shipping volume and performance.
To analyze each shipment closely, you can view the drilled-down data for the Total and Tracked shipments.
Just click on their respective tabs or click the Arrow to access the detailed dashboard.
You can export these reports for further analysis by clicking the ↥Export option.
Select the export file type: CSV or excel
Select the data format: Standard format where all the default fields will be exported or Custom format where you can select the fields you want to export.
If the custom data format is selected, the option to choose the fields you want to export will be given below the FIELDS TO EXPORT header. Remove the fields you don’t want to import and reposition the fields by a simple drag and drop.
The line graph highlights the progress of your shipments in terms of volume over time.
Filter data by day, week, or month for a more granular or panoramic timeframe view.
Hover over the line graph to view total shipments for a particular timeframe.
Click View details to analyze the in-depth performance of your shipments over time.
The detailed Shipments over time dashboard enables you to analyze the performance of the selected metric in more detail and identify any changes or fluctuations over a specific period.
You can apply additional filters to add depth and perspective to closely monitor the fluctuations concerning delivery status, geographic attributes, carrier and service type, and eCommerce store.
Leverage our interactive map feature to assess shipping volumes across diverse locations. It empowers you to harness geographical data, fostering a comprehensive understanding for well-informed decision-making.
You can explore main shipment destinations and their distribution across various geographic areas. Compare destinations seamlessly by selecting your preferred view – either shipment volume by destination country or state – conveniently located in the top right corner.
You can enhance your analysis by zooming in and out, panning across the map, and clicking on specific locations to unveil a detailed list of shipments. Our interactive map transforms complex shipping data into a visual and user-friendly platform, providing valuable insights at your fingertips.
To dig deeper into the geographic analysis of your shipments, you can access the detailed report highlighting the volume of shipments routed to specific locations. The dashboard also unveils the volume of shipments successfully delivered to those destinations relative to how many were intended for those destinations.
Note that shipments with an unknown origin or destination location are not displayed in the table, but are included in the totals for other charts.
You can apply additional filters to add depth and perspective to closely monitor the fluctuations concerning delivery status, carrier and service type, and eCommerce store.
You see data based on different shipment statuses like Pending, Info received, In transit, Out for delivery, Available for pickup, Delivered, Exception, Failed attempt, and Expired
The line graph helps you analyze the performance of your carrier in shipping packages and check the progress of your shipments based on a country/region, state, and city.

a. View the total number of shipments your top-performing carriers are handling during a specified period.
By clicking the arrow given against each carrier, you can view the breakdown of total shipments handled by that carrier across its shipping services.
b. View the percentage of total shipments using each carrier service.
c. View the percentage of each carrier/service's shipments that have been delivered.
d. You can slice and dice your report with available filters for more refined analysis.
The line graph highlights the specific transportation route or corridor where the largest volume of shipments as a percentage of total shipments is transported between two points or locations. You can switch between countries/regions, states, and cities to view how many shipments have been transported between these regions, states, and cities through various transportation methods over a specified period.

The Dashboard provides several actions that you can take to enhance your experience and share valuable insights with others. Here are the actions you can perform:
To save or share a snapshot of the dashboard, simply click on the option located in the upper right corner to export it as a PDF file. This enables you to capture the current state of the dashboard and conveniently share it with your team members.
You can export specific data to a CSV file for further analysis on the detailed page of each report.
If you want to share the latest insights and performance metrics with your team members, you can schedule a recurring email dashboard to receive regular updates.
The email reports or dashboard feature is exclusively available for Enterprise standard and advanced plans.

Let’s break down the Shipment Analytics dashboard of AfterShip Tracking.
Customizable filters
Created at: The period when shipments were created in your AfterShip Tracking account. It will be default selected. You can switch to Ordered at and Picked up at.

Shipments overview dashboard
Key metrics
Right after the filters, you will see a status bar that highlights the key metrics to give you an overview of your shipping volume and performance.
Key metric | Description |
---|---|
Total shipments | The total number of shipments imported to AfterShip Tracking (including pending and expired shipments). |
Tracked shipments | The total number of shipments that are tracked in AfterShip Tracking (excluding pending and expired shipments). |
Pending rate | The percentage of total shipments that are showing as Pending or Expired. |
Delivery rate | The percentage of total shipments that are showing as Delivered. |
Key metrics: Detailed reports
To analyze each shipment closely, you can view the drilled-down data for the Total and Tracked shipments.
Just click on their respective tabs or click the Arrow to access the detailed dashboard.
You can export these reports for further analysis by clicking the ↥Export option.
